Knowing a wedding venue is about more than knowing where the ceremony room is. Having photographed and filmed weddings across Hampshire, West Sussex and the South Coast for many years, I know how different venues behave throughout a wedding day, where the light works best and where we can create great photographs without taking you away from your guests for hours.
These guides are based on venues I have genuinely worked at. Wherever possible, each venue page includes real wedding photography, real couples and actual wedding films rather than generic venue information.
Choosing a Wedding Venue With Photography and Film in Mind
A beautiful venue is only part of the story. From a photography and videography point of view, I also look at how the available light changes during the day, where couples can step away for portraits without disappearing from their guests for too long, what indoor options are available if the weather turns and how easily the day flows between preparation, ceremony, reception and evening celebrations.
Outdoor space can make a big difference too. Woodland, open countryside, gardens and coastal locations all produce very different photographs and films. Where a venue permits it, and weather, safety and airspace conditions allow, aerial footage can also add another view of the venue and its surroundings.
