I have photographed weddings at Southdowns Manor on a number of occasions, and it remains one of the venues I genuinely enjoy returning to. Sitting in the South Downs countryside near Petersfield, it gives couples a mixture of elegant indoor spaces, gardens and open countryside without needing to travel away from the venue for photographs.
My style is relaxed, natural and documentary-led, while still making time for creative portraits when the light and location are right. Southdowns Manor works particularly well for this because there are plenty of opportunities to step away for a few minutes without disappearing from your wedding for ages.
Southdowns Manor sits in the heart of the South Downs National Park and is ideally placed for couples from West Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey. It is also an easy venue for me to reach from Portsmouth, which means there is no sense that I am travelling halfway across the country to photograph your day.
Having worked at the venue before makes a difference. I already know the character of the grounds, the opportunities around the manor and how quickly the light can change across the surrounding countryside. That lets me spend less time scouting and more time concentrating on the people and moments that actually matter.
Jemma and Oli celebrated their wedding at Southdowns Manor and their gallery shows just how much variety the venue can give us, from relaxed photographs around the grounds to countryside portraits and creative evening images after dark.

I also film weddings at Southdowns Manor, creating natural, cinematic wedding films that preserve the atmosphere of the day as well as the way it looked. Photography can capture a moment beautifully, but video gives you the voices, movement, laughter, vows, speeches and all the little interactions that are so easy to forget afterwards.
My approach is documentary-led and unobtrusive. I do not want your wedding to feel like a film set. I work around the day as it naturally unfolds, capturing preparations, ceremony, portraits, speeches, celebrations and the moments happening between them.
Becky and Mark's wedding is a great example of how Southdowns Manor works on film. Their highlight film brings together the atmosphere of the venue, the emotion of the ceremony, the speeches, portraits and celebrations into one cinematic story of the day.

If you are planning a wedding at Southdowns Manor and want your day captured on film, I offer full-day wedding videography as well as flexible coverage options. My wedding films are designed to feel natural and personal rather than heavily staged.
Where conditions and permissions allow, I can also use my drone to capture aerial photographs and video of the venue, surrounding countryside and parts of the wedding day. At a venue surrounded by the South Downs, aerial footage can add a completely different sense of scale and location to a wedding film.
Drone flying is always subject to weather, airspace restrictions, safety, venue permission and the circumstances on the day, so it can never be guaranteed. When it is safe and appropriate, however, it is something I love adding to the coverage.
The strongest wedding photographs at Southdowns Manor are not about spending hours posing. I look for the changing light, genuine interaction and small windows during the day where we can make something special without pulling you away from your guests.
The gardens and surrounding countryside give us plenty to work with during the day, while the venue also lends itself to more dramatic photographs once the light disappears. Some of my favourite Southdowns Manor images have been made after dark, using additional lighting to create something completely different from the daytime photographs.
